Student life

So, unlike last year, this year I'm making an effort to actually be a part of the undergraduate student life in my department.  In a very small way.  By which I mean I've officially joined the undergraduate philosophy student group.  I already know a couple of the people socially, and three or four others are in some of my classes.  So it's not like they're total strangers.  And many of them are just as big as I am on the geek scale (although on girl did says, "What's D&D?").  Still, I think it's good for me.  I need to actually be a bit involved.  If nothing else, it will give me someone to study with.

FYI:  Posting may be spotty and weird during the Atlanta trip.  Apologies.

So tired...

You may or may not know this, but I suffer from chronic nightmares.  Not that I wake up screaming or sleepwalk into traffic or anything.  But on most nights it's likely that I've spent most of the night tossing, turning and whimpering.  (I have to take my boyfriend's word for that last bit.)  Which means that even on those rare nights that I get to bed at a decent hour, I often don't get a whole lot in the way of sleep.

Those of you who've just reflexively glanced down at the time stamp on this post will have realized I still suck at getting to bed.

Anyway, I didn't sleep very well Monday night, and Tuesday is my long day at school.  Since I get there early, it's basically 9:30 am to 9:30 pm.  Which I don't mind in principle.  I'm just so very tired.  And we're getting ready to go out of town for a philosophy conference/fun time at Dragon Con, so I keep thinking of things that I have to do before we can go.  And things I want to make sure I don't forget to pack.  And which homework I have to turn in before we leave and which homework I can deal with over the trip.  And whether or not the friends who are going to feed the cats have a key yet.  And how bloody expensive hotel rooms in Atlanta are.

Is it any wonder I don't sleep well?
